Silverarm RPG Newsletter: #14 Fall is Really Here
The Shrike Won an Ennie, New Brochure Adventure with Feuding Wizards, Desert Moon of Karth Supplement, and Cool Blog Posts
Howdy,
Summer has truly ended and I’m ready to get spooky and wrap up some projects. I just went on a sweet trip to Poland and that place has an infinite amount of history, vibes, and little architectural details to steal shamelessly for RPG stuff. The food is also great! Check out this fantasy looking platter from a Witcher themed dungeon bar in Krakow.
The Shrike Won the 2025 Gold Ennie for Best Long Form Adventure!
For those of you who missed the announcement back in August, The Shrike won the 2025 Gold Ennie for Best Long Form Adventure. It’s always nice when good stuff gets recognized and Leo Hunt can write a good damn adventure. We’re officially award winning writer and publisher now and can slap that on various online bios to flex. No promises this early out- but there’s been rumblings of a potential follow up. We’ll see!
Fresh Brochure Adventure: Bastion of the Barren Five
I finally wrapped up this brochure add-on that was going to go out with The Shrike. Much belatedly, it has arrived and I think it’s very decent. The PDF will be free for a week as a bonus for you Dear Readers checking out this newsletter. Let me know if you run it for a session sometime.
So the great wizard Lanikor is tired of his feuding apprentices. He’d given them their own towers around his idyllic orchard, and still, they’d endlessly squabbled and fought over who would be his heir. Sick of their feuding, Lanikor completed a powerful ritual, ripping the entirety of his orchard through a rift and plunging it into a raging sea on another plane of existence. This newly-formed isle held a quartz orb at its center, sending them back only when all living apprentices grasped it and agreed on his heir. Soon after, each apprentice realized the loophole—if their rivals were all dead, they would be the chosen heir by default. In the week since the banishment, two apprentices have been slain, one transformed into a mindless lizard beast, and the remaining two are locked in a grueling stalemate as one’s plant minions warring with the other’s bug minions. This cannot go on forever.

Vibechete! Youtube Celebrity Actual Play
This may be the most criminally underwatched actual play of my stuff over at Node. It’s a Mothership game of my Vibechete! adventure from Hull Breach with folks from Rocketjump, Epic Meal Time, and Corridor Digital you might recognize from their multimillion subscriber Youtube channels. They have multiple camera angles! They are a blast to watch as the crew riffs off each other while navigating the Hodder Forest Preserve and living all the slasher movie tropes. The algorithm gods chose to hide this sweet video from the eyes of mortals but I have revealed it to you!
Free New Classes, Weapons and Equipment for Karth
Scooby Goober reached out to show me these custom classes, skills, and equipment they had created as a supplement after reading Desert Moon of Karth and uploaded them on Itch free for anyone to download. Really matches the vibe of Karth well and tweaks a Mothership game to best fit it.
“3 thematic classes (Gunslinger, Duster, and Tenderfoot) with loadouts and story hooks
3 new skills (Riding, Prospecting, Desertology)
12 space western-themed weapons including a powerful Pulse Revolver, and fleshed out stats for several weapons mentioned in Desert Moon of Karth
10 pieces of equipment for surviving in the harsh desert of Karth”
They just showed me their wild d100 Camels table they’re gonna add to the supplement too. Makes me want to get back to Karth just to run a camel trading intrigue focused mini rancher campaign or something sweet.Favorite RPG Blogs I’m Reading Lately:
The Better Parts of Earth for Hexmaps by Whose Measure God Could Not TakeI’ve wanted to run a historical hexcrawl around the real world several times in the past but totally ran into the fact that there’s not that many places with the video gamesque otherworld varied biomes that I like in a relatively constrained campaign region without using huge hexes. There’s several great options for gameable midsize slices of our real terrain here. You could even lift the area wholesale flip it 180 degrees to hide it a little and use them as the map for a fantasy game. The Iberian peninsula is a great hexcrawl region.
No Spur But You, My Brother by Slow Lorris Press
Any new post by Zedeck Siew is going to be a good time. A feuding gang of liberated fighting chickens stuck between going legit or carrying on their revolutionary rooster freeing legacy. Juicy creative fun in a dynamic situation.
The Norn’s Judgement by Patchwork Paladin
Super neat looking mini-megadungeon with a weird Norse theme, super compact presentation and 23 levels. You get thrown down the big magic well, good luck getting out again, is a great game starter.
See ya soon,
Joel

"camel trading intrigue focused mini rancher campaign". I'm in.
Hi Joel; slight issue with Bastion of the Barren Five; despite being digital, the purchase attempts to add shipping when checking out.
